About Me
I’m Dr Marta López, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over two decades of experience supporting people through life’s challenges. My work is grounded in compassion, evidence-based practice, and the belief that meaningful change is possible for everyone.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with individuals, couples, families, groups, and professionals across many walks of life. Each person arrives with a unique story, so my practice has never been about fitting people into rigid models.
My Style of Work
My practice is shaped by a blend of influences rather than a single formula. It is informed by the science of how the brain responds to stress and recovery, by relational and attachment-based perspectives, and by approaches that recognise the different “parts” of ourselves—the critical voices, the protective instincts, the vulnerable child within. Underpinning all of this is a philosophy of compassion: the understanding that true healing rarely comes from pushing harder, but from softening into kindness towards ourselves.
What does this mean in practice? Therapy with me is not prescriptive. Some people come seeking practical strategies to manage anxiety or low mood; others want a deeper exploration of longstanding wounds or relationship patterns. We might focus on understanding the “why” of your struggles, or on developing tools to help you cope day-to-day. Most often, it is a combination of both.
Above all, I see therapy as a collaborative process. You bring your story, your knowledge of yourself, and your hopes. I bring my experience, training, and a space safe enough to explore even the hardest truths. Together, we shape the path forward.
