How it works
Approaching a clinical psychologist for therapy or supervision is an important step towards growth, resilience, and well-being. It’s natural to have questions about what to expect. Here’s a clear outline of how I work and what you can expect when we begin.
What's on Offer
I work primarily online, providing therapy, intensive programmes, and professional supervision. For some people, particularly those seeking intensive trauma work, I also offer in-person arrangements — this can be discussed during your initial consultation.
Whether you plan to self-fund or use private health insurance, we always begin with a free initial consultation. This gives us space to explore what brings you here, answer your questions, and decide together if we’re the right fit.

Initial Assessments
Before beginning therapy, I offer different types of initial assessments depending on your needs:
-
Standard Assessment – a full first appointment where we explore your background, concerns, and history in depth.
-
Attachment-Informed Assessment – a longer, more in-depth process that looks more closely at early experiences and how these shape your current challenges.
-
Neuropsychological Assessment – focused testing and evaluation to understand how brain function affects thinking, memory, and behaviour. This can inform therapy or be offered as a stand-alone service.
Therapy & Intensive Programmes
I provide therapy in structured programmes designed to support meaningful change. In my experience, progress rarely comes from “one session at a time.” Instead, therapy usually begins with a structured programme of at least six weeks in a traditional weekly format. To give you flexibility, I offer bundles of 6, 12, or 20 weeks — with larger bundles providing a more economical rate per week.
For Insurance Clients
-
First, we organise a free initial 20 minutes consultation.
-
Your provider usually requires pre-approval of sessions.
For Self-Funded Clients
-
Initial Consultation (20 minutes – free): a chance to meet, ask questions, and get a sense of whether we are a good fit.
-
Initial Assessment: a full first appointment where we explore your background, concerns, and history in depth. (See Initial Assessments section above).
-
Therapy Plan: together, we outline the focus of our work. Therapy usually begins with a structured programme rather than one-off sessions.
-
Six-week programme: the usual starting point.
-
12-week and 20-week programmes: provide more depth and a more economical rate overall.
-
Review: at the end of your programme, we reflect on progress and discuss whether to continue, adjust, or conclude.
💡 Typical cost for a six-week programme (self-funded): around £950, depending on additional requests such as reports or assessments.
Intensive Therapy
For some people, weekly therapy isn’t the best fit. Intensive programmes offer a different way of working — concentrated support delivered over a shorter period of time.
This can involve longer or more frequent appointments spread across several weeks, or, in the most focused cases, full days of therapy. This format is particularly effective for working with specific trauma issues.
For example, someone processing a single-event trauma may benefit more from two intensive days of therapy than from months of weekly sessions. Others may choose a short block of intensives to address a pressing difficulty when regular weekly therapy isn’t possible.
At present, intensive programmes of this kind are self-funded, as insurance companies have not yet caught up with this approach. While most of my work takes place online, I also offer in-person intensives when appropriate. These arrangements depend on individual needs and availability and can be discussed during your initial consultation.
Clinical Supervision
I offer clinical supervision for psychologists and mental health professionals.
CARE Group Supervision
Small groups using the CARE approach — Collaborative, Accessible, Reflective, and Empowering. These provide a supportive space to reflect on your work, gain perspective, and strengthen your professional practice.
EMDR Supervision
For clinicians seeking to deepen their EMDR practice, I offer supervision as part of my pathway towards EMDR Europe consultancy. This provides tailored guidance to help you consolidate skills and grow in confidence.
How it works:
-
Initial consultation (free, 20 minutes): to explore your supervision needs and goals.
-
Group supervision: dates are announced in advance.
-
Individual EMDR supervision: arranged to suit your development pathway.
