Frequently asked questions
What is therapy?
Therapy is a safe space where you can unpack your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It's like having a trusted confidant who is trained to help you navigate life's challenges and find ways to feel better.
How does therapy work?
Therapy works by providing you with tools, insights, and support to tackle your issues head-on. It's like having a personal coach for your mental well-being, guiding you towards a happier, healthier mindset.
Online therapy
In today's digital age, online therapy has emerged as a convenient and accessible option for those seeking mental health support. It's like having a therapist in your pocket, allowing you to connect with a licensed professional from the comfort of your own home, or wherever you feel most comfortable. Through video calls, messaging, or phone sessions, online therapy offers the flexibility to fit into even the busiest of schedules. Whether you're juggling work commitments, family responsibilities, or simply prefer the convenience of remote sessions, online therapy provides a solution. Plus, it opens up a world of possibilities, allowing you to access specialised therapists who may not be available in your local area.
Although, we have worked in-person with people and we are happy in this approach, we now offers most of our interventions online. We see the use of technology as an opportunity to connect with people in ways that have not been possible in the past. We feel that this mode of working offers greater choice, accessibility and creativity as well as efficiency in meeting your goals.
Is therapy right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial for anyone who wants to improve their mental health or work through personal issues. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just need someone to talk to, therapy could be a great fit for you.
How long will therapy take?
Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all journey, so the duration can vary. It's like embarking on a road trip – the length of the journey depends on the distance you need to travel and the stops you want to make along the way. We'll work together to create a plan that suits your needs and goals.
How often do I need to attend sessions?
The frequency of sessions depends on what works best for you and your schedule. It's like scheduling regular check-ins with a friend – we'll find a rhythm that feels comfortable and supportive for you.
How much does therapy cost?
Therapy is an investment in yourself, and the cost can vary depending on factors like insurance coverage. A valuable investment in your overall well-being.
What should I look for in a therapist?
Finding the right therapist is a bit like finding a good fit for a pair of shoes – you want someone who understands you, supports you, and makes you feel comfortable whilst delving into difficult matters and challenging unhelful beliefs and/or maladaptive strategies. Look for someone who has experience with your specific concerns and whose approach resonates with you.
Is therapy confidential?
Confidentiality and our duty of care are like the guardians of trust and safety in our therapeutic journey together. Your privacy is incredibly important to us, and we hold your information in the strictest confidence. It's a bit like having a secret keeper – everything you share stays between us, creating a safe space for you to be open and honest. However, just like a caring friend, if we ever believe there's a risk of harm to you or someone else, we have a responsibility to step in and ensure everyone's wellbeing. This might mean we need to break our confidentiality agreement, but please know it's only ever done with your best interests at heart. So, as we embark on this journey together, know that your trust is our top priority, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
What happens during the first session?
The first session is like dipping your toes in the water – we'll get to know you and the way we work here, discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, and outline your goals. It's a chance for us to start building trust and rapport.
How will I know if therapy is working?
You'll start to notice positive changes in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It's like planting seeds in a garden – with time and nurturing, you'll see your efforts bloom into tangible results.
What if I don't feel comfortable with my therapist?
Your comfort and trust are essential, so if you don't feel a connection with us, it's okay to speak up. Finding the right therapist is like finding the perfect dance partner – it's all about finding someone who moves to the same rhythm as you.
Can I continue with therapy if I feel better?
Absolutely! Therapy isn't just about addressing problems – it's also about personal growth and self-discovery. Even when you start feeling better, therapy can provide valuable support and guidance as you navigate life's ups and downs.
